Kevin Paterson - Director of Registration & Results
Another of Kimberley's native sons, Kevin spent some time in Alberta and Saskatchewan studying and working before returning with a wife and three children to enjoy, the Kootenay lifestyle. Kevin has spent the last 10 years as the noxious weed specialist with the Regional District of East Kootenay, while devoting much time and talent to the community. A Past President of both Kimberley Minor Hockey and the Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, he hasalso been a community soccer and volleyball coach and the co-ordinator of Platzl Hockey. Kevin brings experience, ability and passion to this Board and is well suited to the tasks before him.
Stu Deeks - Director of Security
A resident of Cranbrook, Stu is essentially retired from his career in the RCMP but he continues to be employed with the RCMP Recruiting Team out of Vancouver. Stu is married to Barb and they have one grown daughter who is with the Edmonton Police Service. He loves camping, mountain biking, and traveling to different countries. He also instructs "spinning" classes (stationary bike) part time and World Gym to maintain his fitness hobby/lifestyle. He was part of the security detail at the Calgary Olympics.
Lorinda Nelson - Director of Special Events/Operations Manager
A resident of Cranbrook nearly all her life, Lorinda and husband Jay have a long history of volunteer commitment to this community. While raising three very active children - Andrea, Lori, and Mike, Lorinda has supported her community through several volunteer organizations and for twenty-five years held a leadership role with Cranbrook's Youth Ambassador Program. The former General Manager of the Cranbrook Recreation Complex, she has been strongly influenced all her life by sport and recreation - serving on different sport-related boards in various capacities and was a Professional Figure Skating Coach for 15 years. A person of great organizational skill she has arranged many special events at the Recplex including Celebration On Ice, Blue Rodeo, Great Big Sea, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lord of the Dance, Champions of Skating, Bryan Adams and Nickelback. Lorinda has attended many BC Winter and BC Summer Games as a coach, volunteer, and parent. Lorinda's father was a Director for the 1986 BC Summer Games in Cranbrook and so she is pleased to be able to continue this family tradition as Director for the 2008 BC Winter Games in Kimberley and Cranbrook. Lorinda has also taken on the role of Operations Manager for the Games and is pleased to be involved in such a large capacity.
John Boucher - Director of Sport
John has a rich and varied history of volunteer involvement with
Sport. From Chairman of the Kimberley 1980 BC Winter Games to
strong connections with the Paralympics in Tignes, Lillehammer and Nagano (as a
member of the Canadian Disabled Ski Team contingent), John brings some very
special talents to this group. A long-time resident of Kimberley, John and his
wife Judy are no strangers to contributing to their community. Having been
previously involved in over a dozen volunteer groups in town, John could not
wait to be asked to participate in these Games as he was one of the first to
volunteer and we are glad to have him and his experience.
